Xuan Duc is operating on a completely different level compared to his peers. At this point, it’s fair to say he’s outclassing the entire under-18 field and emerging as one of the brightest young talents Vietnam has ever produced in Pickleball.
Despite being just a teenager, he has boldly stepped into Open divisions and even tested himself in PPA-level competition. His composure, confidence and fearless approach against seasoned and more experienced opponents immediately caught the attention of analysts. The moment he defeated senior star Ly Hoang Nam in men’s singles became a defining milestone proving that the “Vietnam Pickleball prodigy” label is no exaggeration.
At the recent Hanoi tournament, Xuan Duc once again showcased his rapid ascent by overcoming Trinh Linh Giang to secure a spot in the final. Although he eventually fell to Vietnam’s top duo Do Minh Quan and Truong Vinh Hien, his performance alongside Hoang Nam was enough to send a clear warning to the reigning champions. Currently, the only pair capable of truly threatening Minh Quan – Vinh Hien is the Hoang Nam – Xuan Duc partnership. They have already beaten the top pair once, and although the head-to-head stands at 1–2, the gap is far from decisive. Considering the two only recently teamed up and Xuan Duc is still extremely young, the numbers strongly suggest that the trajectory is trending upward.
Xuan Duc’s playing style is a spectacle in itself fast, bold and full of flair. He brings an explosive, creative rhythm to the court, making him unpredictable and dangerous. His presence allows Hoang Nam to play with much more freedom, especially in counterattacks and fasthand exchanges, without the fear of being pinned down. One slight opening from the opponents a loose ball, a delayed step and Xuan Duc immediately punishes with a flick or a swing volley packed with high-impact explosiveness. The swing volley that sealed the semifinal was a perfect illustration of his precision, decisiveness and elite reaction speed.
What sets him apart is not just talent but the pace of his growth. While many young players are still searching for their identity and direction, Xuan Duc has already cemented himself on major stages, chasing victories with an impressive maturity rarely seen at his age.
