Vietnamese pickleball is entering its strongest era ever. Winning four out of five titles at major regional events proves that Vietnam is no longer a follower but a true force in Asia’s pickleball landscape. This success brings pride but also signals a new responsibility the need to upgrade the entire domestic system to match the nation’s rising stature.

One of the most urgent issues is standardization. At international tournaments athletes must use paddles approved by PPA or USAP but when competing domestically many switch to completely different models. This inconsistency affects ball feel rhythm and overall performance. Vietnam needs unified equipment standards aligned with major tours so players can transition naturally to global stages without sudden adaptation shocks. Some domestic brands have even produced paddles that were later banned abroad for exceeding performance limits highlighting the need for stricter quality control and greater fairness in competition.

In terms of professional development singles events require much more attention. Men’s singles is currently Vietnam’s strongest discipline consistently outperforming regional competitors yet there are surprisingly few singles tournaments held domestically. Without regular high level competition maintaining long term form becomes difficult. Women’s singles faces an even bigger gap as Vietnam still lacks players capable of reaching the top tier internationally. This must be a priority for future tournament planning.

The DUPR ranking system also needs to be integrated more widely into domestic competitions so athletes can accumulate the necessary points for international participation. Other countries are doing this effectively and Vietnam must accelerate to keep pace.

Additionally youth categories and age group divisions such as Junior and 35+ tournaments should be expanded. Age based and level based systems create a sustainable development pathway and nurture continuous generations of players. Current domestic brackets based mainly on “skill level” often do not align with international standards which can create competitive disparity once players step into global events.

Vietnamese pickleball has reached a new height and to maintain this momentum domestic standards must rise accordingly. This is the golden moment to build a stronger professional foundation and shape a sustainable future for the sport.
